Disney dropped a lot of news at their big investor day streaming event last night. A LOT.
Of course, it was essentially an exercise in corporate willy waving but there were plenty of huge announcements across the board to make this a systemic event for fans of anything under the Disney umbrella.
Whether Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Hulu, 20th Century Studios, or NatGeo, there were big news nuggets across every corner of the Disney family. So come this way for a full rundown of the highlights…
STAR WARS
Ahsoka
After making her debut in The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano will be getting a spin-off series, which will be exec produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.
Rangers of the New Republic
Another spin-off from The Mandalorian set to intersect with future stories from the show. Again exec produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.
Andor
A spy thriller Rogue One prequel series created by Tony Gilroy and starring Diego Luna as rebel spy Cassian Andor.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Ewan McGregor returns as the iconic Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series set a decade after the events of Revenge of the Sith, directed by Deborah Chow. Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader is the big news coming out of this one.
The Bad Batch
Animated series following the adventures of the elite experimental clones of the Bad Batch, first introduced in The Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Visions
A series of animated shorts celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. An anthology series of ten unique anime visions from all corners of the Star Wars universe.
Lando
The galaxy’s favourite scoundrel will return for a brand new event series from critically-acclaimed Dear White People creator Justin Smith. Presumably Donald Glover and/or Billy Dee Williams will return but were not confirmed.
The Acolyte
Leslye Headland, creator of Netflix’s Russian Doll, brings a new mystery thriller Star Wars series to Disney+. Will take viewers to the dark corners of the galaxy, full of shadowy secrets and dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic.
A Droid Story
Lucasfilm Animation are teaming up with special effects geniuses Light & Magic for a special Star Wars adventure, which will introduce a new hero, guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO.
LUCASFILM
Willow
Set decades after Ron Howard’s 1988 movie, the Willow series will continue the adventurous spirit, heroics, and humour of the original film. Warwick Davis will return as Willow Ufgood, with Crazy Rich Asians director Jon Chu set to helm the pilot.
Indiana Jones 5
Starring Harrison Ford, the final Indiana Jones is now in pre-production and is set to be released July 2022.
MARVEL
WandaVision
Marvel’s first Disney+ series starring Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and Vision respectively is still on course to arrive on the 15th January 2021.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes (aka The Winter Soldier) team up moments after the events of Endgame for a global adventure that will test their abilities…and their patience with one another. Set to premiere on Disney+ 19th March 2021.
Loki
Set to debut on Disney+ in May 2021, Loki will feature Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief as he steps out from Thor’s shadow in a time-hopping crime thriller set after (or during…it’s hard to tell) the events of Endgame.
What If…?
Flipping the MCU script this animated series will reimagine the stories and adventures from our favourite heroes in new and exciting ways. Will feature a voice cast that includes a host of MCU stars.
Ms Marvel
Launching late 2021, Ms Marvel will introduce the world to Pakistani-American teen Kamala Khan as she grows up with fantastical powers in Jersey City. Newcomer Iman Vellani is now officially confirmed to star in the title role.
Hawkeye
Also debuting late next year, Hawkeye will (unsurprisingly) star Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, who must team up with Kate Bishop (now confirmed to be Hailee Steinfeld) to take down various New York gangs. Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez are also set to star.
She-Hulk
Tatiana Maslany is now officially confirmed as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, a lawyer who specialises in superhuman-orientated legal cases. Mark Ruffalo has also been confirmed to return as Bruce Banner and Tim Roth is set to reprise his role as The Abomination.
Moon Knight
Directed by Mohamed Diab, Moon Knight will follow vigilante Marc Spector who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. No major news here and no confirmation of Oscar Isaac staring.
Secret Invasion
New Disney+ series announced starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelson as Skrull Talos who last featured in Captain Marvel. Big cross-over event that will feature a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls that infiltrate Earth.
Ironheart
Another new Disney+ series starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor whoh invents the most advanced suit since Tony Stark’s Iron Man.
Armor Wars
New Disney+ series starring Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes (aka War Machine), who must deal with the consequences of Tony Stark’s tech falling into the wrong hands.
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
A goddamn live-action Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special written and directed by James Gunn!!!
I Am Groot
Everyone’s favourite sentient tree gets his own series of original shorts.
PIXAR
Inside Pixar
Series inviting us for an up-close look at the artistry, craftmanship, and storytelling of Pixar Studios.
Soul
Pixar’s latest feauture starring Jamie Foxx is confirmed to drop exclusively on Disney+ on Christmas Day.
Luca
Pixar’s next feature after Soul, set in Italy and telling the story of a unique boy named Luca and his best friend. Will hit cinemas June 2021.
Lightyear
Not (quite) related to Toy Story. Lightyear will follow how a young test pilot became the space hero that spawned the Buzz Lightyear action figure. Chris Evans is set lend his voice to the protagonist. Due in cinemas June 2022.
Turning Red
Bao director Domee Shi will helm Turning Red, about a teenage girl named Mei who transforms into a giant red panda when excited. Due in cinemas March 2022.
Burrow
Part of Pixar’s SparkShorts series and will debut on Disney+ along with Soul.
Pixar Popcorn
A collection of mini shorts featuring established Pixar characters. Coming to Disney+ January 2021.
Dug Days
Coming Autumn 2021, this collection of shorts will feature the misadventures of Dug from Up.
Cars
All-new Cars spin-off series following Lightening McQueen and his best friend Mator, coming Autumn next year.
Win or Lose
Pixar’s first ever long-form animated series. Following a middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game, told from a different perspective each episode. Due to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
DISNEY
Hokus Pokus 2
Disney+ exclusive sequel to the 1993 Halloween cult classic.
Three Men and a Baby
A modern take on the 80s comedy, starring Zac Efron.
Cheaper by the Dozen
A reimagining of the hit comedy with Black-ish producer Kenya Barris.

All-new animated film based on the popular books.
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild
Disney+ exclusive spin off from 20th Century Studios’ popular Ice Age films, starring Simon Pegg as Buck.

New animated twist on the popular Night at the Museum film series from Shawn Levy.
Chip ‘N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers
A hybrid live-action-animated feature for Disney+, starring John Mulaney and Adam Sandberg, with Seth Rogan signed on to cameo.
Pinocchio
The live-action adaptation of Pinocchio directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks will drop exclusively on Disney+.
Peter Pan & Wendy
Davis Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) is set to helm the live-action story based on the Disney animated classic. Now due to drop exclusively on Disney+.
Disenchanted
Amy Adams to return as Giselle in this sequel to hit film Enchanted. To stream exclusively on Disney+.
Sister Act 3
Sister Act will now be a trilogy as Whoopi Goldberg returns as Sister Deloris.

Raya and the Last Dragon
Disney Animated Studios’ next film starring Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina will now release simultaneously in cinemas and Disney+ (Premiere Access) on the 5th March 2021.
Baymax
New Big Hero 6 spin-off series featuring everyone’s favourite healthcare bot. Due on Disney+ early 2022.
Zootopia+
New Zootopia spin-off series. Due on Disney+ Spring 2022.
Tiana
A long-form musical comedy series spin-off of The Princess and the Frog. Coming to Disney+ 2023.
Moana, The Series
New Moana spin-off series. Due on Disney+ 2023.
Iwaju
An all-new series coming to Disney+ in 2022. A first-of-its-kind collaboration between Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African comic book entrepreneur company Kugali.
HULU/STAR/FX
Hulu (US) and Star (International) will now be fully integrated into Disney+, offering more adult-orientated content from Searchlight, 20th Century Studios, Hulu etc etc. Which is nice.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Has been greenlit for 5 more season, taking it up to season 18. A record number or seasons for a live-action comedy series!!!
Alien
Fargo and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley will be helming a new series based on the Alien movies.
The Handmaid’s Tale, Ramy and The Great
All handed new series orders.

New shows called The Old Man (starring Jeff Bridges), Shogun (based on the best-selling novel by Clavell), and Reservation Dogs (from Taika Waititi) have been announced.
